The BFFG needs a new name!

Now that we're no longer first graders, it's time to come up with a new name for our Blog. I think I'll poll the class and see if they can come up with a creative title. The new school year is under way and it's great to be back. I will update the blog as often as I can, but my Internet connection at home does not always cooperate!

Stan the Owl Man Visits Asa

We had an exciting visit from Stan Richmond from Birdsacre in Trenton. He brought along his friends: the Saw-whet owl, the Great Horned and the Barred owl. He shared a lot of what he knows about owls and the kids made an impressive list of what they learned today! If you ever want to see the owls, bring your kids to Birdsacre and they are right there. I will send home a brochure for Birdsacre tomorrow.

Great to be Back!

It was wonderful to be back to work today with all my little "chiddlers" as the BFG would say it! We had a busy day and we are all looking forward to a productive 2008.

THE GB RETURNS!!

Detective Chris Watson was riding to work this morning when he spied a small brown figure running on the ice. He stopped the car and saw what looked to be the description of the wanted posters hanging around town. He immediately yelled for the Gingerbread Baby to get off the ice because it's not safe. He had to save the Gingerbread Baby just in time before he fell through the ice. The GB was frozen solid. He had a blue contract in his hand when he was running. Detective Watson brought him to Asa Adams at 12:00 and the kids gave a description of the GB. Sure enough, the kids' descriptions matched the GB he had with him. He then proceeded to tell them what happened on the ice. He also told them to stay off any ice as it is currently not safe. Then Detective Watson revealed the runaway suspect and the kids were quite surprised that he was frozen solid indeed. They all touched him and tried to wake him up, but soon learned that as soon as humans touch a gingerbread baby, he turns back into a cookie. Boy are we glad Detective Watson was in the right place at the right time! He saved the GB. The class decided they want to keep the GB right in the classroom so he can learn right along with them. You might see him someday when you come in.

Gingie Sends a Contract

The Gingerbread Baby (aka Gingie, Mr. Baby, the GB) wants to come back to school to be with his first grade friends! He doesn't trust us though, so he had a contract drawn up in Bangor. He promises to come back if we promise not to eat him. He also admitted he lost his job at Dunkin Donuts due to muscle pain in his arm from his hockey injury. He knew he couldn't afford to pay for his house, so he sold it to the Muffin Man (who no longer lives on Drury Lane). Everyone in the classroom signed the contract and Ms. O. faxed it off to the lawyer's office and Ginger T. Breadsaver will get it to the GB. He promises to return on December 20th if everyone signs it. We'll see what happens!

Gingie Orders Oil...from Webber Fuel

I bet you thought he wanted to warm his new house up, didn't you? That's what we thought, too. But instead he ordered cooking oil. We wonder what he's going to bake. It appears he won a prize through Webber Energy and they are trying to locate him, but he won't answer his cell phone (we didn't even know he had one), and he quit his job at Dunkin Donuts, so they can not locate him there either. Oh my gosh, how will he ever pay for his house? It's a good thing he sent us all those stress relief trucks to squeeze-we think we'll need them!

Gingie Gets a House

The GB has his own house. The first graders co-signed his loan and promise to make the $86.47 per month payments if his donut filling job doesn't pan out. He went to the Penobscot County Federal Credit Union and took out a loan for $1,000. for a new gingerbread house. It's description is as follows: Gingerbread walls, icing and gumdrops in an "A" frame construction. Apparently, the house is on Gingerbread Lane in Veazie. We just might have to pay him a visit soon!
